About Buntingsdale School
Buntingsdale Primary School is a thriving village school in the heart of Shropshire catering for over 300 local pupils including many from the local Army base at Tern Hill near Market Drayton. The school Mission Statement put together with ideas from pupils, staff, parents and governors, provides a clear indication that Buntingsdale school is a place where learning and achieving to the best of people’s abilities applies to all within the school community. The school has three school values that underpin their positive approach to behaviour management – These are Friendship, Respect and Responsibility. At Buntingsdale, they encourage a strong partnership between home and school and their motto “Learn to live, live to learn” is at the heart of our vision for the school.
What were the problems & challenges they faced?
In 2013 the school were experiencing problems with the cleaning service provided by the local authority – including the reliability of staff, lack of supervision, management support and flexibility. In addition, located in a fairly remote part of Shropshire added to the problem of response and support from the incumbent contractor. The school approached a number of local cleaning companies to try and address these issues and, after a tender exercise, Prime Facility Services were awarded the contract.
How did Prime Help?
As a local, Shropshire based business Prime facility Services were able to provide a local, pro-active service including local area supervisors who re-trained and supported the existing team. In addition, with over 400 local, directly employed staff, Prime was able to arrange cover for periods of sickness and holiday absence and was flexible enough to incorporate other tasks for the operatives once risk assessments and method statements had been approved.
The school have renewed the contract with Prime and continue to look for new, innovative cleaning systems and methods while maintaining the quality of service and levels of hygiene in the school.
