Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy is a secondary school with academy status located in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, West Midlands, England. The school is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust.

Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy serves approximately 1,320 students attending the school, including 420 sixth formers.

What Problems Did These Schools Face?

The school were contracted to a National Cleaning company who were unable to provide the staff, logistics, expertise and project management to deep clean the school over the summer of 2022.

The school had been refurbished in 2012 and was in need of an intensive deep clean, especially in the art and design parts of the school. In addition, there were a number of high-level parts of the building in need of cleaning that were difficult to access.

The school Finance Director approached a number of local cleaning companies to tender for this requirement, and after a short process, the deep clean contract was awarded to a local owner-managed company – Prime Facility Services.

How Prime Helped?

Prime appointed a dedicated Project Manager to survey, specify, price and manage the whole deep clean project, which was to take place over the last 2 weeks of August prior to the return of the students and staff.

A detailed task schedule of cleaning for all parts of the building including all windows, all hard floors (including the gym and main hall), all carpets and all high level areas
A dedicated team of skilled, directly employed operatives who were experienced and qualified to deliver this type of clean
A full set of RAMS and COSHH documentation
A team leader to communicate with and to explain the progress of the project
