The Royal School, Wolverhampton is a co-educational free school and sixth form for day and boarding pupils in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is the only state school of its type in the UK to have a Royal Charter and it has been a free school since September 2016. The school was previously a fee-paying independent school and it is now one of a handful of state boarding schools in the country.
Both these schools have facilities dating back hundreds of years and maintaining them is a challenging and delicate task.
Both schools had not cleaned their gutters for many years and debris, leaves, soil and slipped roof tiles had built up in the gutter causing them to be blocked.
As a result, rainwater was overflowing the gutters causing damage elsewhere on the property.
In addition, access to the gutters of the school could not be reached from the floor and due to the historic nature of the buildings, it was difficult to get equipment in place.
